DOME OF SAN GAUDENZIO
A major basilica in the centre of Novara, dating back to the XVII century, completed with the construction of a huge dome in the second half of the 19th century. The Basilica of San Gaudenzio is a miracle of engineering that defies the limits of brick constructions; designed by A. Antonelli, it is still one of the most daring and complex wall projects in the world. The inside of the 126 meter high dome can be visited explored and is the undisputed symbol of the city of Novara. One of the must-see destinations, located only a 10-minute walk from Hotel Europa.
NOVARA CATHEDRAL
Also known as the Cathedral of St. Mary Ascension, the "Duomo" of Novara, like the Basilica, was designed by A. Antonelli during the 19th century. This imposing and refined neo-classical marble building stands elegantly in the historic centre of Novara, just a 10-minute walk from the Hotel Europa. The "Duomo" is a destination undoubtedly not to be missed by art lovers. You can admire several ancient paintings such as the "Sposalizio di Santa Caterina" (the Marriage of St. Catherine), dated 1530.
THE BROLETTO
The Broletto de Novara is one of the most romantic places in the city. Four historic buildings, built in different periods, surround a beautiful interior courtyard, the Arengo, which has always been the centre of city life. A mix of architectural styles just steps from the Duomo and just a 7-minute walk from the Hotel Europa, today hosting a contemporary art gallery, town hall, bars and cafes.
THE CASTLE OF NOVARA
The Castle Sforzesco Visconti, based in the city centre of Novara, is one of the most charming castles of Piedmont - rich in history, legends and mysteries. It is a medieval building erected on an old building of the Roman era, transformed into a prison during the Napoleonic era. Today the Castle has become the Archaeological Museum of Novara and an important cultural centre. Near the Castle, just 10 minutes’ walk, there is the green hub of the city, the Park Allea San Luca, a very neat French garden, perfect for relaxing.

The Coccia Theater is the historical theater of the city of Novara, one of the most important theaters in Italian tradition, as well as the most important theater in Piedmont. You will be surprised to discover inside the theater a majestic horseshoe room, surrounded by three rows decorated in a Renaissance style, with decorations in gold, ivory and velvet in a traditional pink colour. The Theater is located in the city centre, just 8 minutes’ walk from the Hotel Europa.

The Natural History Museum "Faraggiana Ferrandi" is located in the historical centre of Novara, in a charming building from the 19th century. Highly recommended for families with children, particularly for visits to the educational garden and to view the important collection of fossils and dinosaur skeletons. Its green enclosures also offer breathtaking views of the city and the dome of Saint Gaudenzio.

Lake Orta is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist destinations in Piedmont because of its feudal history and its high-quality wine and food.
